The press service of the Ministry of Ecology and Nature Management of the Moscow region reported that a new population of the chess grouse was discovered in the city of Protvino. This type of lily is listed in the Red Book of the Moscow region under the 2nd category, as well as in the Red Book of Russia.
In addition to this district, the plant was observed only in Serpukhov and Yegoryevsk. At the same time, the number of populations varies greatly over the years, and in some seasons the plant was not found in its former habitats at all.
The chess grouse is very vulnerable. In this regard, an appeal has already been sent to the administration of the Protvino city district with a request to take into account the presence of a red book plant and preserve the population when carrying out landscaping work.
The Ministry of Ecology reminds local residents that it is impossible to pluck red-book species even for the purpose of subsequent planting on the infield. According to the current legislation, such actions entail administrative responsibility.
