A large-scale reconstruction of the embankment is being carried out in the village of Okhotsk in the Korsakovsky district of the Sakhalin region. There will be a safe and clean beach area, bike paths, sports and playgrounds. The architectural and urban planning concept implies not just the improvement of the embankment, but the creation of an all-season tourist complex. This is reported on the website of the governor and the government of the region.
"This year, the beach will receive the accreditation of the Blue Flag. This is the Rostourism award, which is given to recreation areas that meet high standards of safety and cleanliness. Rescue towers, additional locker rooms, wooden and plastic deck chairs, showers and a medical center will appear in Okhotsk," the message says.
In this place, popular with Sakhalin residents and guests of the region, hotels, cafes, and a sauna complex will appear in the future.
"This should be one of the best beaches on Sakhalin, where people could relax on the coast, have a delicious lunch and dinner, exercise, and have an interesting day with the whole family. It is necessary to approach landscaping comprehensively and create a high level of service at affordable prices, because the beach in Okhotsk is one of the main attractions and the starting point for traveling through the wild nature of Sakhalin," the words of Sakhalin Governor Valery Limarenko are quoted in the message.
It is planned to build a single promenade with a length of more than three kilometers on the embankment. Recreation areas with barbecue grills and camping decks will appear on the territory. At any time of the year, Sakhalin residents and guests of the region will have access to hiking, sports and wellness tracks, cycling routes of various levels of difficulty.
The governor also instructed to consider the possibility of arranging an indoor swimming pool with warm sea water.
"After the implementation of a full-scale project, we plan to be the first in the Far East to pass the certification of Blue Flag beaches. Thus, we will set high standards of service quality for both local residents and our guests," said Artem Lazarev, Minister of Tourism of the Sakhalin Region.
