Large-scale cleaning is taking place as part of the Clean Arctic project in the industrial area on the banks of the Shchuchya River. To this day, more than 190 tons of waste have been collected.
The press service of the "Clean Arctic" reported that about 2.5 thousand tons of scrap metal left here since Soviet times have accumulated on the territory of the industrial zone. Local residents and 16 volunteers take part in the cleaning.
All collected waste will subsequently be transported by ship for recycling.
Cleaning will continue as long as weather permits. The organizers expect that the work will last until November 1.
