The FSB of Russia and the Coast Guard of China agree to cooperate in the Arctic

he border service of the Federal Security Service of Russia and the Coast Guard of China signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of maritime security, goarctic.ru reports.

The signed document covers a wide range of issues – from the fight against terrorism to illegal fishing. In addition, China is now admitted to joint inspections of fishing in Arctic waters.

During the visit to Murmansk Сhinese colleagues as observers took part in the naval exercises of the Russian border service "Arctic Patrol 2023", where anti-terrorist operations were practiced on the basis of nuclear icebreakers.

Earlier in March, Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Moscow. The meeting discussed cooperation in the Arctic in the field of energy and transport infrastructure. Also this year joint exercises of the Russian and Chinese coast guard services are planned in the Arctic region.
