The results of the environmental campaign "Clean Arctic" will be summed up this year in the Federation Council, Senator from the Komi Republic Elena Zlenko said.
Speaking at the All-Russian forum "Arctic. The ice has moved", held in the city of Usinsk, she said that in 2022 volunteers are involved in cleaning 60 territories, mainly in the Arkhangelsk region, vmeste-rf.tv reported.
Over the ten years of the Clean Arctic campaign, volunteers have collected and removed about 40,000 tons of garbage. These are mainly industrial waste that remained from enterprises and weather stations, Zlenko said.
"Not only volunteers joined the Clean Arctic project, that is, it is not only young people with their enthusiasm and a great desire to make the Arctic territory of Russia clean, but also enterprises and the Ministry of Natural Resources. Senators from the Arctic regions have actively joined this work," the senator noted.
