The work of the Russian drifting polar station "North Pole-41" started in the Arctic Ocean.

The ice-resistant platform "North Pole" is moored to the edge of the ice field with an area of about 42 square kilometers. Scientific equipment, vehicles and machinery have already been unloaded onto the ice. Scientists deployed the first field scientific laboratories and worked out data transmission to the "mainland". The first weather report left the ice.

As expected, the work of scientists will make it possible to test forecasts regarding the transformation of the Arctic climate, to receive and transmit data on climate change. Observational data from the Central Arctic, in particular, will be used to ensure safe navigation along the Northern Sea Route.

The expedition "North Pole-41" will be a continuation of the national program of drifting polar stations, which began in 1937 with the expedition led by Ivan Papanin.
