Scientists from the Kurchatov Institute, the P. P. Shirshov Institute of Oceanology, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia and the Center for Underwater Research of the Russian Geographical Society went to the Arctic to study the radiation state of the polar region.
"A scientific expedition aboard the research vessel Akademik Mstislav Keldysh went to the Arctic to study the radiation state of the polar region," the Russian Geographical Society said in a statement. As part of the program for monitoring the radiation status of the Arctic region, scientists will carry out measurements with spectrometric complexes, take samples of seawater and soil in areas of flooding of dangerous objects. First of all, the research will be conducted at Novaya Zemlya, nauka.tass.ru informs.
