The federal project "Clean Arctic" in 2023 will be engaged in the improvement of ecological trails for tourists in the Arctic, said a member of the federal staff of the project Andrey Nagibin.

A unique project to clean up the Russian Arctic from waste accumulated over many decades of its development unites thousands of volunteers from different regions of the country.

In 2022, more than three thousand people took part in these works, who removed more than 3.000 tons of garbage during dozens of expeditions. The third season of a large-scale project to clean up the Russian Arctic will begin in May.

This year, 5.000 Norilsk Nickel volunteers are going to take part in the campaign. The company organizes work in two Arctic regions of its presence – the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Murmansk Region.

In 2018, thanks to volunteers, construction of an ecological trail began on the territory of the Krasnoyarsk Pillars National Park, and in 2022 on the initiative of Norilsk Nickel volunteers set up a meteorological site there.

At the end of last year, the Federation Council noted the contribution of Norilsk Nickel with gratitude for its active participation in the Clean Arctic project, of which it is a partner, sgnorilsk.ru writes.
