The International Air Transport Association (IATA), which represents some 290 airlines comprising 82% of global air traffic, has identified opportunities for significant expansion in Kenya over the next 20 years if key investments in infrastructure and policy reforms are made.

Kenya wants to increase the number of tourists that visit the East African country from Asia, as it will showcase its tourism products at the Internationale Tourismus Borse-Asia (ITB-Asia)-Singapore expo this week, an official has said. The expo will be held from 16 to 18 October at Marina Bay Sands and about 12 companies from Kenya are expected to represent the country.

Zimbabwe’s flagship destination, Victoria Falls is expected to register a 20% increase in tourist arrivals this year, driven mainly by international source markets. The country’s source markets include the United Kingdom, United States, Australia, Germany, and South Africa.

The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) said in its annual review released last March that South Africa is the largest tourism economy in Africa.

Namibia’s privately-owned airline, FlyWestair, recently made its first international scheduled flight to Cape Town, South Africa.

Cote d’Ivoire has been selected to host the inaugural “Investing in Tourism in Africa” global forum that is expected to attract more than 3,000 participants next year.

Conservation tourism comprises of tourists paying to stay at conservation farms and as part of the experience, they accompany teams that feed animals to experience closeness to wildlife.
