The Arkhangelsk region has begun developing a tourist scheme for the macroterritory "Russian North and the Arctic", the press center of the regional government reports on its website.

"The project represents a strategy for the development of the tourism industry of the macro-territory, as well as proposals for infrastructure development for tourism purposes," the message says.

The macroterritory "Russian North and the Arctic" includes the Arkhangelsk, Vologda, Murmansk regions and Karelia.

ProGorod LLC (VEB Group) is engaged in the development of a tour scheme for it.Russia) and a multidisciplinary consortium led by Novaya Zemlya.
According to the head of the ProGorod project office, Ksenia Titova, as polls have shown, the Russian North is one of the five dream destinations for Russians.
"One of the key tasks of the Russian North and Arctic tour scheme is to create a roadmap, the implementation of which will maximize the tourism potential of each region, provided that a balance is maintained between financial indicators and respect for nature and the cultural identity of each territory," the press center of the Arkhangelsk Region government quotes Titova.

In turn, the deputy chairman of the regional government, Ivan Dementiev, noted that the flow of tourists to the Arkhangelsk region has increased significantly recently.
"We are gradually approaching the figure of one million per year, which means that the tourism industry is becoming one of the key sectors of the region's economy that requires constant attention and development. Therefore, both the development of new routes and tourist programs and the development of tourism infrastructure are relevant for our region,” the press center quotes Dementiev.

According to experts, the region has a high potential for the development of cultural and educational, natural, fishing and hunting, cruise and business tourism. There are opportunities for the development of therapeutic and recreational areas and formats of recreation by the water.
