Travel Without Borders! The 4th Travel Forum Opens Up a World of Possibilities
The XI International Festival of Travel Films and TV Programs "Date with Russia" will be held online and offline from December 14 to 20, 2020 in Vologda, as well as in cities and regional centers of the Vologda region.
The film festival aims at presenting a kaleidoscope of the historical, cultural and natural potential of the Russian regions, inviting Russians and foreign guests to travel in our country via cinema and television.
The film festival will show documentaries in five nominations, which will include three competitive nominations: Chronicle of Russia (films about the history of the Russian regions and the most interesting historical, cultural and natural sites); "To Russia for Adventures" (films about any kind of travel and adventure; polar expeditions; round-the-world races; sea, air, hiking travel by all types of transport); "Frescoes of the North" (about famous people whose life and work were associated with Russia; about various religious movements and traditions, holy places and righteous people, monuments of religious culture, elders, miraculous icons, traditions, etc.), as well as two special nominations for 2020 - films dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory and the 200th anniversary of the discovery of Antarctica by Russian navigators F. Bellingshausen and M. Lazarev.
The festival program includes competitive and out-of-competition screenings of Russian and foreign feature films and animation films, round tables, master classes, and creative meetings. There will also be premieres of documentaries dedicated to the discovery of Antarctica - “The Meridians of History. In memory of the first ”, “Russian Antarctica. Continued Story” and "Expedition. Between Antarctica and the Arctic”. The opening film of the festival is the film "From sorrow to joy" by producer and leading actor Fyodor Dobronravov, directed by Edward Parry.
The Festival is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, Rossotrudnichestvo, the Russian Union of Veterans, the Immortal Regiment of Russia, the Russian Geographical Society, the Union of Cinematographers of the Russian Federation, and the Russian Union of Travel Industry. The festival is held with the informational support of the Federal Agency for Tourism (Rostourism).
The general partner of the festival is the travel company TUI. Honorary President of the Festival - Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Ilyich Tolstoy.
The online broadcast of the Festival will be carried out on the websites of cultural institutions of the Vologda Oblast, websites of the Festival partners in Russia and abroad.
