During a TASS press conference, the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Cente (VCIOM) and Automatic Meteorological Observation Station (AWS) shared the results of a study on the tourist attractiveness of the Russian North, in particular, Monchegorsk.
The press conference at TASS was opened by Andrey Chibis, who spoke online. In the course of theVCIOM survey, the natural attractions of Monchegorsk and tourism opportunities were announced to the Russians. 68% of respondents answered that they would be interested in visiting Monchegorsk, said Stepan Lvov, director of strategic communications at VCIOM.
"One of the important issues that was raised today at a press conference is the increase in the investment attractiveness of the region. On the AWS website, you can get acquainted with the investment portfolio of projects. It will be presented as part of a road show in Moscow, as well as during a press tour and investment tour in Monchegorsk. Various tourist destinations are actively developing in the city, including event tourism. Thus, in August this year, "Imandra Viking Fest" will be held the fifth time", said Stepan Lvov.
A significant role in the development of Monchegorsk is played by the Kola MMC of the Norilsk Nickel company.
Irina Zhuykova, Head of the Department of Social and Charitable Programs of PJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel, during a TASS press conference said that the company plays an active role in the development of the region where Norilsk Nickel operates.
"Norilsk Nickel invests in creating a comfortable urban environment, in developing social infrastructure facilities, in supporting and stimulating public initiatives of the residents themselves. It is important for the company that the city is attractive not only for work, but also for life and for tourists. Therefore, in Norilsk, Monchegorsk and other cities where Norilsk Nickel operates, the company has created special institutions for the development of territories," she said.
It was also reported at the press conference that the shooting of the reality show about the Vikings "Vikings of the North" will soon begin in Monchegorsk. Gennady Shatalov, a member of the expert council of the State Duma Tourism Committee, noted that Monchegorsk correctly solves two major problems in domestic tourism: correct positioning and promotion.
