Spanish travel company Wamos decided to acquire 62 of the 91 points of sale in Belgium owned by the bankrupt company Thomas Cook, according to Belgian media. The amount of the transaction was not disclosed, but it is already known that the Thomas Cook offices in Belgium from October 21 will start working under the sign of Neckermann and the management of Wamos Benelux.
The Wamos solution will save 200 of the 500 jobs. The oldest British tour operator Thomas Cook on the night of September 23 announced liquidation after the failure of negotiations with creditors and the return to the UK of all its British customers.
In Britain, 555 Thomas Cook-owned points of sale will be acquired by Hays Travel. Due to the liquidation of Thomas Cook, 9,000 people became unemployed overnight. According to media reports, in France, the leaders of the tourism industry - the group Marietton Développement and tour operator Salaün Holidays - are showing interest in acquiring the retail business of Thomas Cook, which has about one hundred points of sale.
