UNESCO hosted an event dedicated to the opening of the International Decade of Indigenous Languages. One of the speakers was the head of the Federal Agency for Nationalities Affairs I.V. Barinov, according to the telegram channel of the Russian delegation to UNESCO.
“The preservation and development of the languages of the peoples is a long-term and absolute priority of the state policy of Russia. This is determined by the specifics of the language situation in the country and correlates with the thematic areas of the Decade. The key areas for Russia are education, digitalization and culture,” he said.
