Thailand to make travel insurance compulsory from this year

Thailand intends to make travel insurance compulsory, with tourists obliged to buy a special policy from the airport. The new policy, which would cost 20 baht (52p) for 30 days’ cover, is likely to be rolled out later this year, according to the Thai Office of the Insurance Commission.

The Federation of Korean Industries (FKI) announced on Nov. 11 that the number of Chinese tourists visiting South Korea, which amounted to 8,068,000 in 2016, dropped to 4,790,000 last year in the wake of the China National Tourism Administration’s ban on group travel to South Korea, which was implemented in August 2016.
