Ecotourism in Crimea aims to preserve the environment
Russian citizens are increasingly embracing yachting as a leisure activity, with demand for both domestic and international yacht charters surging by approximately 30% and 20% respectively over the past year. Industry experts anticipate this trend to continue, but they warn that the development of yachting tourism in Russia is being hampered by several factors.
Anna Nosova, head of the Yacht Tourism Committee at the Russian Union of the Travel Industry, highlighted the issue of inadequate infrastructure. "While demand is high, the supply of yachting services is lagging behind," she said at a press conference. "The lack of quality infrastructure and new yachts is limiting the growth of this market."
Nosova emphasized that the absence of well-developed marinas and other necessary facilities is a significant deterrent for potential customers. She noted that small businesses are eager to invest in building marinas but face regulatory hurdles.The Yacht Tourism Committee is working to address these legislative challenges.
The cost of yachting services also plays a role in consumer decisions. According to Nosova, prices for yacht charters can range from 20,000 to 200,000 rubles, depending on the services included. These prices have increased by about 30% compared to the previous year due to factors such as rising fuel costs and increased demand.
For international yacht charters, additional expenses include visa fees, logistics, and currency fluctuations.
Popular domestic destinations for yachting in Russia include St. Petersburg, Sochi, Moscow, the Moscow region,Vladivostok, Samara, and Irkutsk, which have established marinas and yachting infrastructure. The demand for yachting in Vladivostok has been particularly strong, with bookings for the summer season often sold out months in advance.
Emerging destinations such as Lake Ladoga, Lake Onega, and Kamchatka are also gaining popularity among yachting enthusiasts.
