The forum opened with a plenary session on the theme "Human-Centered Arctic: Achieving Russia's National Goals in the Far North," which addressed key issues of the development and exploration of the Arctic. In a welcoming address delivered via video link by the Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation and Chairman of the Maritime Board, Nikolai Patrushev, it was emphasized that holding such forums plays an important role in improving the quality of life of the population of the Arctic zone and developing the Northern Sea Route.
Patrushev noted: "The long-term holding of forums is of great importance for the economic prosperity of Russia's northern regions and the protection of national interests in the Arctic."
One of the main focuses of the forum was the topic of sustainable development and the social problems faced by Arctic residents. Andrey Grachev, Vice President of PJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel, shared important initiatives of the company to improve living conditions in the Russian North, noting that the task of raising the living standards of the Arctic population to the average Russian level is one of the priorities.
"The president's instruction that it is necessary to bring the living standards of Arctic residents to a level no lower than the average Russian level is a task that is always relevant. It is a kind of generalization of what we are doing," he emphasized.
The forum's business program includes more than 45 events, including a youth platform for participants in the "Meeting of Generations" project, as well as an exhibition of advanced solutions for Arctic development. The forum will last two days, during which participants will be able to exchange views, develop practical recommendations, and discuss the future of Russia's Arctic region.
