World Wildlife Day provides an opportunity to highlight the diversity and beauty of wildlife and flora, and helps raise awareness of the benefits of conservation. In addition, this Day reminds us of the need to strengthen the fight against wildlife crime with far-reaching economic, environmental and social impacts.
Alexander Kozlov, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation, congratulated the citizens and workers of the sector:
"World Wildlife Day reminds us of the key thing: we are responsible for our planet. We are part of it, and this connection is inextricable. The quality of life of all mankind depends on the ecological well-being in each individual country, on its plain or mountains, taiga or ocean.
The theme for this celebration in 2021 is "Forests and Livelihoods: Providing People and Preserving the Planet." For our country, this will always be relevant: Siberia and the Far East are the green wealth of Russia. It is important to preserve it, as well as the possibility of traditional farming of local residents.
I sincerely congratulate all those who are professionally involved in the conservation of wild nature on this holiday, and thank you for the hard work. I call on all people, all companies and industries in our country to contribute to our common fight for nature. The future of the planet is in everyone's hands! "
