The VDNKh press service announced that on December 15th, the main exhibition of the country will become the venue for a large-scale celebration – World Ice Skating Day. The largest ice rink in Moscow will host competitions, quizzes, master classes, and meetings with legendary athletes.

The grand opening of the event is scheduled for 12:00. It will be attended by presidents of winter sports federations and legendary athletes, including Olympic speed skating champions Nikolai Gulyayev, Lydia Skoblikova, and Svetlana Zhurova, track and field champion Yuri Borzakovsky, and football player Alexei Smertin.

At 13:10, a speed skating master class will be held by world champion Dmitry Lobkov. Throughout the day, everyone will be able to participate in ice races, autograph sessions, and prize draws. The evening will conclude with a performance by a musical group.

This year, the ice rink at VDNKh is once again located along the Central Alley between the "Central" and "Agriculture" pavilions. The ice track encircles the "Friendship of Peoples" and "Stone Flower" fountains. The area of the artificial ice cover is more than 20 thousand square meters, which earned it the status of the largest ice rink in the city. The rink can simultaneously accommodate 4.8 thousand people.

This year, a Show Zone appeared on the VDNKh rink for the first time. Visitors can watch ice performances from the stands completely free of charge. A two-sided bar counter has been installed between the stands and the rink for casual communication among guests.
