The press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources reported that the main purpose of the bison resettlement is to increase the genetic diversity of the Bialowieza and Caucasian-Bialowieza breeding lines.
Three sites are considered for the settlement of bison in the territory of Bashkortostan. Among them is the state natural zoological reserve of regional importance "Iksky" with an area of 195 hectares, where there are open glades. They are combined with forests, which create favorable feeding and protective conditions for bison.
Before the bison relocation to the territory of the republic, specialists will have to carry out preparatory measures: organizational, veterinary and zootechnical. Currently, options for keeping and breeding imported animals in semi-free conditions are being worked out. Ultimately, a soft release of animals and the creation of a free population of bison of the Bialowieza line are planned.
In the future, the republic also plans to organize viewing platforms for observing bison in natural conditions.
Participants discussed the boundary between nature and ecotourism, whether mass visits to unique areas can remain safe, the responsibilities of investors, and how to prepare tourists for visiting specially protected natural areas.
The head of state expressed confidence that the Forum will be held at a high level, and that its results will contribute to the development of tourism in Russia and the expansion of humanitarian and business ties.
