Vietnam has set an ambitious goal of attracting 23 million international tourists this year.
According to Tran Phong Binh, Deputy Director of the Tourism Marketing Department of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, the country welcomed 17.5 million visitors last year. In 2025, this figure is expected to increase by 31% and surpass the pre-pandemic record of 18 million tourists in 2019. Southeast Asian regional markets are expected to contribute up to 2.5 million visitors.
To achieve its ambitious goals, Vietnam is launching a series of initiatives and events aimed at increasing its appeal on the global stage. Visit Vietnam Year – Hue 2025 will be dedicated to the central province of Thua Thien Hue, a cultural center known for its historical significance and UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
A number of major events are also planned to raise Vietnam's profile. The Vietnam International Travel Mart will be held from April 10 to 13 in Hanoi, while the International Fireworks Festival in Da Nang will illuminate the sky from May 31 to June 12, with participation from international teams from Finland, the UK, Portugal, Poland, and other countries. In addition, the International Tourism Exhibition will be held in Ho Chi Minh City from September 4 to 6, where Vietnam intends to gather industry leaders and showcase its tourism potential.
Furthermore, one of Vietnam's calling cards is the Son Doong Cave. It is considered the largest in the world: the cave stretches for nine kilometers in length, reaches 200 meters in height, and 100 meters in width in its largest parts, capable of accommodating a 70-story building.
