Three months after the devastating floods that affected Valencia and its surrounding areas in Spain, local authorities are expressing confidence in the swift recovery of the tourism industry. At the FITUR international tourism fair in Madrid, the President of the Valencian Community, Carlos Mazón, assured that the region is "100% open" and ready to warmly welcome tourists.
Despite the autumn catastrophes, 2024 was a record-breaking year for Valencian tourism, registering over 11 million international visits. The regional government emphasizes its commitment to the principles of sustainable development and states that there are no plans to introduce additional tourist taxes.
Carlos Mazón also highlighted the leading role of the Valencian Community in implementing responsible tourism policies, emphasizing that the region was the first in Spain to receive certification for its tourism strategy in the field of sustainability. According to him, proactive measures have been taken to regulate key sectors, including tourist accommodation, to ensure balanced growth.
