Unusual - lenticular clouds appeared on December 27 in the mountains of Sochi. They were observed at an altitude of more than 2000 meters above sea level in the Rosa Khutor resort. Users reported this in the Sochi public pages.

The appearance of lenticular clouds, which are also called lenticular or lenticular, in the meteorological service of the Rosa Khutor resort was explained by the influence of the mountains on the air currents.
«Mountains force the air flow to rise and, accordingly, cool down - in the crests of these peculiar air waves condensation of water vapor in the air occurs. For the formation of such clouds, a strong wind is needed with a fairly high air humidity,» said the forecaster of the Rosa Khutor resort Adrian Koroteev.
He emphasized that such conditions are typical for the proximity of the atmospheric front, which often promises changes in the weather, most often precipitation and cooling.
