Sinodjackia is endemic to Eastern China - that is, in natural conditions, it is found in a limited area within this region. This species is included in the Red List of the International Union for Conservation of Nature as endangered. The tree has been used in Chinese medicine since ancient times. And with the development of technology, it was possible to discover powerful antitumor properties in the plant. So in young leaves, camptothecin, a substance that successfully fights cancer, was found in large quantities.
"Synodjackia is a shrub or a spreading tree. In the collection of the Sochi arboretum, there is a specimen a little less than 50 years old. During this time, it managed to reach a height of six meters with a trunk diameter of only two or three centimeters," the Sochi national park press service said.
During flowering, the crown is covered with delicate flowers - star-shaped, with 5 or 7 petals. The diameter of the flowers does not exceed 2.5 centimeters, which, together with the white shade of the petals, gives them a particularly touching and defenseless look. Synodjackia will delight you with its delicate blooming appearance until the end of May. The plant is located in the upper part of the park, near the "Fairy Tale" fountain. Already in the fall, in September, fruits of the original pear-shaped form will begin to appear on it.
