Two tourism projects will be created in the northern and southern Kuriles, Russia, with a total cost of almost 24 billion rubles, Interfax-Tourism reports.
The projects will be implemented by businessman Sergey Bachin.
Acting Minister of Tourism of the Sakhalin Region, Andrei Romashevsky, said on Thursday at a meeting of the regional Duma that both projects of the Kuril Islands are planned to be carried out by Vasta Discovery LLC within 5 years.
The first project "Archipelago Onekotan" with a budget of 2.2 billion rubles will be located on the islands of the Northern Kuriles. Within the framework of the project, it is planned to build a three-star hotel with 127 rooms in the city of Severo-Kurilsk, a tourist village with an autonomous hydroelectric power station, mooring facilities and an airstrip in Shelikhov Bay.
The second project, Iturup Resort, worth 21.5 billion rubles, will become a center of attraction for winter sports fans. A ski resort is reportedly to be built on the Iturup Island.
At the moment, the project is at the stage of attracting investments. The investor intends to attract another 9.3 billion rubles for infrastructure within the framework of federal programs, the rest will be borrowed funds.
It is expected that these tourism projects will help attract about 60 thousand visitors to the Kuril Islands, including foreigners.
Sergey Bachin is the CEO and owner of Vasta-Discovery LLC.
Earlier it was reported that the construction of the Three Volcanoes tourist cluster will begin this year in Kamchatka, and in 2025 it will be able to welcome first tourists.
The resort "Three Volcanoes" will include 40 km of ski slopes with a lift to the Vilyuchinsky volcano, and 1,000 hotel rooms will be built for tourists.
According to the head of the region, the future tourist park can be compared with the Rosa Khutor resort located in Sochi. He recalled that the same investors are engaged in the creation of the Kamchatka facility.
