Two Dolphins Rescued in Sirius

Two dolphins found themselves trapped in the waters of the Imereti port near Sochi. Being caught in the nets caused the cetaceans severe stress.

"Fishing nets installed in the coastal zone usually do not pose a serious danger to adult dolphins with sufficient experience. However, young individuals or animals in a stressed state can lose their orientation and become entangled in the mesh," reports the dolphin rescue center "Delpha."

To rescue the distressed mammals, center staff contacted the Sochi Border Service, which, in turn, informed local fishermen. A fishing team quickly arrived at the scene and successfully freed the dolphins from the nets. The process of releasing the frightened animals proved challenging; persuading stressed dolphins to leave the trap is not an easy task.
