The Tunkinsky National Park (the Republic of Buryatia), one of the important snow leopard habitats, has received support for anti-poaching raids. According to the press service of the park, within the framework of the program of WWF and VTB Bank for the conservation of big cats in Russia, it was allocated a grant to organize effective protection of snow leopard habitats.
The house of the snow leopard in Tunki is inaccessible rocks, for long and difficult expeditions inspectors need horse patrols. The support of WWF and VTB Bank is important for the purchase of specially trained horses, equestrian ammunition and camera traps, said the head of the Irbis group, state inspector Maxim Tkachev.
NP "Tunkinsky" has been cooperating with the World Wildlife Fund since 2015. This year, the director of the national park Aldar Dorzhiev and the head of the Altai-Sayan branch of WWF Natalia Trofimova signed an Agreement on cooperation in the field of preserving the snow leopard and its habitat. With the participation of WWF experts, joint activities are carried out to monitor and study the snow leopard.
