The Federal Agency for Nation States Affairs (FADN) supports Taimyr in the presence of the Tunguska Congress.
The region received an appeal to connect the development problems of the Evenks of the North, Siberia and the Far East on the issue of the high prevalence of Evenks in Russia (Tunguska Congress), which will be held from July 29 to 31 in the Irkutsk region.
In the Taimyr municipal district, the Evenks are concentrated mainly in the village of Khantayskoye Lake, where they live together with the Dolgans. Several Even families are also in the village of Potapovo with Dolgans and Nenets. In total, only one percent of the total population of this people in the Russian Federation lives in Taimyr.
The Khantay Evenks in Taimyr at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century found themselves to be a very closed economic group engaged in hunting, fishing and reindeer herding. They went out to the Plakhino trading post no more than two or three times a year to sell furs and purchase everything they needed. The Tungus Congress - Big Suglan of the Evenks of Russia gathers a large-scale representation of the Evenks of Russia and representatives of other Tungus-Manchurian peoples of Russia. And these are Evens, Orochs, Ulchis, Ults, Nanais, Udeges, Negidals, as well as representatives of the Tungus peoples from the People's Republic of China and Mongolia. Five representatives of the Taimyr Evenks are sent to the Tunguska Congress thanks to the support of Norilsk Nickel.
