The flow of tourists to Romania has reached a record level, exceeding the indicators of 2019. This was announced in Bucharest at the presentation of the fourth edition of the White Book of Romania on Tourism.
The event was attended by representatives of various tourist companies in Romania, the president of the Council of Small and Medium Private Enterprises Florin Duma, the president of the Economic and Social Council Sterica Fudulya, the executive president of the Hospitality Employers' Federation Calin Cozma, and Senator Florin Jianu.
"Tourism has recovered and began to grow in 2024. It surpassed the results of 2023, which became the year of returning to the pre-pandemic level. Two things are worth noting, namely: a higher percentage of tourists returning to the places where they were before (about 75%), as well as the influx of new tourists + 70% in 2024," Jianu said.
According to those present, the main driving force behind the development of Romanian tourism has become numerous festivals. For example, such festive events as the Christmas Festival in Craiova or the theater festival in Sibiu attract many foreign tourists to the country.
