Russia and Iran today signed an agreement to abolish individual visa requirements for tourist groups. Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali announced this on his Facebook page.
According to the diplomat, head of Cultural Heritage, Handcrafts and Tourism Organization of Iran Ali Asghar Mounesan met in Moscow with the head of Rostourism Zarina Doguzova.
The heads of the tourism departments of Iran and Russia signed an action plan, according to which both states will be able to begin mutual exchange of tourist groups in 30 days, that is, already at the beginning of July. Tourists from the two countries will travel to Iran and Russia through accredited travel companies and with group visas. Thus, there is no need to obtain individual visas.
The document provides for a visa-free stay for 15 days for groups of 5 to 50 people with a representative of the travel company. This should significantly strengthen the interest of tour operators in the Iranian destination, especially since Iran has already developed new complex tourism products for Russian tourists.
