The freediving festival on the Putorana plateau will last until September 3. The competition will take place at the 69th parallel beyond the Arctic Circle. Athletes will dive into the waters of the fjord lake Lama. The temperature at a depth of over 30 meters will be about 2-4 degrees.

The competition will be held in two disciplines: free diving with breath-holding along a cable and diving with fins with constant weight.

The Norilsk Development Agency reported that Guinness record holders, world and European champions, members of the Russian national team and multiple winners of Russian championships will come to the festival. The participants also included four residents of the city of Norilsk, who completed a freediving training course as part of a joint project of the Norilsk Development Agency and the Freediving Federation.

The festival program also includes lectures and master classes from freediving gurus, training dives and trekking trips to the plateau.
