The press service of the Russian Union of Tourism Industry reported that in 2023, almost 160 thousand tourists from Russia visited South Korea, which is 165% higher than in 2022.
The number of trips continues to increase this year. The growth of the tourist flow is also influenced by the increased interest in Korean culture among Russians. In addition, the popularity of sightseeing, educational and medical tourism to the country is growing.
Director of the Moscow representative office of the National Tourism Organization of Korea Lee Gyeongmin, during a meeting with representatives of the tourism industry at the Korean Cultural Center in Moscow, said that new advertising projects prepared by the Korean side will be developed in Russia this year. In particular, it is planned to promote seasonal tourism in Korea together with tour operators.
From January to March, the advertising campaign will cover the theme of flowering, as well as holidays and festivals dedicated to the Buddha's birthday. From April to June, the theme will be sea holidays, from June to September – red maples, and from August to November – winter sports.
Ekaterina Lopukhina, Head of Marketing at the Moscow representative Office of NOTK, said that educational tourism is another popular destination. According to her, teenagers show interest in learning the Korean language and want to go to study in Korea.
Another tourist destination is associated with Korean culture. Travel products related to attending concerts of K-pop groups are being prepared, as well as routes to the filming locations of such films and TV series as "The Squid Game" and "Parasites".
"This year, the country is working on a K-pop camp project – camps for fans of K-pop music. There you will be able to learn Korean, learn vocal and dance, and even take a professional audition in a music studio," the message says.
