On August 12, the Taburetka (Stool) Art Festival will be held in Monchegorsk for the seventh time. Artists, architects, artists, writers and circus performers will gather in the city to take part in one of the largest events in the region together with residents and guests of the Murmansk region. This is reported by the Regional Tourism Committee on its website.

"In 2015, Oksana Kitaeva, a resident of Monchegorsk, proposed to install a monument to a stool in the city as a symbol of the first scene in every person's life. Soon, a three-meter sculpture of Sergei Chernov was installed in the Sergey Brovtsev Park, becoming the center of attraction for writers, musicians, artists, artists and guests of the festival of the same name," the message says.

The festival includes various events - a film laboratory, a procession of animated statues, an interactive tour, a performance of the circus art school "Montgalfieri", an industrial plein air, a photo contest, workshops on creating sculptures, media performances, an exhibition "Recycled Art", the creation of art objects, a performance discussion on the topic of bullying "One", show improvisation "White" and much more. Guests will also be able to take part in the traditional painting of stools and fight in a poetic duel.

"The Stool Festival is also about preserving the culture of small peoples. The Kola Sami are always welcome guests at the festival. Hundreds of people come to the event not only from all over the Murmansk region, but also from other cities of Russia and foreign countries," the words of the acting head of Monchegorsk Olga Ostrovetskaya are quoted in the message.

Every year the festival becomes bigger, unites different cultures and peoples. For seven years, the event has become a real business card of the city of metallurgists, the Tourism Committee noted.

The organizer of the Stool Art Festival is the Living Classics Foundation, the project is being implemented with the support of Norilsk Nickel and the administration of Monchegorsk.
