The Yaroslavl Region is preparing to present the tourist brand "Rybinsk Sea" at the international exhibition-forum "Russia", which will be held at VDNH in Moscow from November 4 to April 12. This was announced on its website by the Ministry of Tourism of the region.
"The Rybinsk reservoir, which we call the sea, is a strong point of attraction. It is very important to develop this potential," the deputy chairman of the government of the Yaroslavl region Maxim Avdeev was quoted as saying.
As noted in the Ministry of Tourism, the Rybinsk reservoir is the largest reservoir in the central part of Russia. The infrastructure for providing a wide range of tourist services and organizing various types of recreation has been created on this territory, new hotel complexes are being built.
"Among the most striking projects is Koprino Posad in the Rybinsk district with 615 rooms: it is planned that this all–season complex for family holidays will open in 2027," the message says.
In addition, the Vetreno water sports center is being developed in the Breitovsky district, which has significantly increased its number of rooms thanks to measures to support the national project "Tourism and the Hospitality Industry", the regional ministry reported.
"Vetreno is also implementing the research project "Flooded Shrines of the Mologsky Krai". It is aimed at finding monasteries and temples that plunged deep into the reservoir when it was created. Based on the results of the research, museum expositions have been created," the report says.
According to Avdeev, the richest opportunities for cultural and educational tourism in the region are combined with unique natural resources, which provides a diverse vacation. Tourists can combine excursions with leisure on the coast and active water sports. "Of course, this makes our region even more in demand for recreation – according to the results of the first half of the year, the number of tourists who visited the Yaroslavl region with one or more overnight stays increased by almost a third," he said.
