The press service of the Ministry of Economic Development reported that the entry of Belarusian tourists to Russia in the first three quarters of 2023 amounted to 191 thousand trips, which is the absolute maximum over the past decade. In turn, Belarus is consistently among the top 10 foreign destinations most popular among Russian citizens. From January to June 2023, the number of trips to the republic amounted to 419 thousand.

The interest in mutual tourist trips among travelers from Russia and Belarus is also stimulated by the absence of language barriers and the ability to make non-cash payments with the MIR card.

Currently, the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, together with the Ministry of Sports and Tourism of Belarus, are discussing the prospect of creating a tourist information center of the Union State, which will promote the unique tourism potential of the regions of the two countries. The Center could also contribute to the development of Russian-Belarusian cross-border tourist routes.

"At the moment, the Ministry of Economic Development is preparing an appropriate application for the project for subsequent coordination with the relevant departments of the two countries and members of the Council of Ministers of the Union State," the message says.
