"The Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia is working to ensure that the number of such objects continues to grow. Six more territories are included in the preliminary list of UNESCO. These are the Magadan Reserve, the Commander Islands, the Great Vasyugan Swamp, the Krasnoyarsk Pillars, the Ilmensky Mountains, the Bashkir Urals and the natural and cultural complex "Reserved Kenoozerye," the press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources reported.
The department emphasized that it is necessary to strengthen the work on partnership programs with business in environmental protection activities, as well as honestly and impartially take into account the human impact on natural complexes.
The number of tourists visiting Russian World Heritage Sites is growing every year. This year they were visited by 1 million 800 thousand people. The Ministry of Natural Resources expects that the law on ecological tourism will allow calculating the anthropogenic load on especially valuable natural complexes.
The bill has already been considered by the State Duma in the first reading. After its adoption, individual housing construction in specially protected natural areas will be prohibited, special places for recreational development will be allocated, and investors who come to these territories will be required to carry out environmental protection and compensation measures.
