The plans to build the ship were announced by the head of the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources, Alexander Kozlov, at a government meeting chaired by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“We will lay down the ship next year. It will be five in one: a tanker, an icebreaker, a scientific, passenger and cargo vessel,” said Kozlov, whose words are quoted on the website of the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources.
According to him, the money for these purposes has already been taken into account in the draft federal budget. The new vessel will bear the name of the Russian polar explorer Ivan Frolov.
