The construction of the longest tourist staircase in Russia will begin in the spring of 2023 on Schmidt Mountain in Norilsk, with views of the Norilsk Valley and the Kharaelakh Mountains.

The total length of the structure will exceed 5 km. In 2023, it is planned to launch the first section of the staircase with a length of 1.02 km, which will run along the "paleontological route", as well as an observation deck at an altitude of 240 m, the Norilsk Development Agency reported.

The second section, about 1.5 km long, is dedicated to the history of the formation of Norilsk, the third (more than 2.5 km) has a sports and educational purpose.

In 1921, the first wooden hut was built on Schmidt Mountain, which is considered the first house of Norilsk.
