The Expert Council under the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation has awarded the status of a national tourist route to the Kaliningrad Region's "Dream Trips" project. It is adapted for people with disabilities and includes iconic sights of the Baltic region with an accessible environment. This was announced by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Kaliningrad region on its website.
"The project is already six years old, and it is very popular. People with special needs travel and discover the westernmost region of Russia. The program is designed so that each participant is comfortable. Guests visit both popular places in the region – the Cathedral and the Curonian Spit, as well as more exotic ones. For example, the program includes kayaking (or a walk on a pleasure boat), a visit to Tapiau Castle, the village of Zheleznodorozhny and the city of Pravdinsk," the words of the head of the department Andrei Ermak are quoted in the message.
The Minister noted that more than four thousand travelers with disabilities from most regions of Russia have already appreciated the convenience and thoughtfulness of "Dream Trips".
According to Ermak, the project has no analogues in Russia.
The author of the route is the director of the Center for the Development of Social and educational projects "AURA", tour operator and social entrepreneur Svetlana Nigmatullina, who already has several unique developments in the field of affordable tourism.
All "Dream Trips" are themed and suitable for people with disabilities from different regions of the Russian Federation and the world, united by one dream, hobby or goal.
"The travel program provides an introduction to the history and geography of the regions, excursion programs are included. Each tour, excursion, event is organized taking into account all safety requirements. The programs provide for the peculiarities of the physical condition and capabilities of the participants," the regional Ministry of Culture and Tourism reported.
As Dmitry Vakhrukov, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Russia, noted, the main task of national tourist routes is to attract more visitors to the region and make the territory more recognizable at the federal level.
"Such routes pass through the most beautiful places of our country and allow tourists to get acquainted with its cultural, historical, ethnographic and gastronomic features. It is also an indicator of the qualitative development of tourism in specific regions," Vakhrukov's words are quoted in the message.
