Inbound tourist flow to the Russian Federation may recover in 2023, while domestic tourism may recover to the level of 2019 already this year. This assessment was voiced to journalists by the head of Rostourism Zarina Doguzova on the sidelines of the VI Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok.
“It is realistic to reach a pre-pandemic turnover in 2023,” she said.
"Our efforts are now focused on domestic tourism, which is progressing very well." The head of the Federal Tourism Agency recalled that tourists from 60 countries can now enter the Russian Federation if they have a PCR test done at least 72 hours before arrival.
In early August, the executive director of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR), Maya Lomidze noted that Russian tour operators do not see the revival of inbound tourist traffic, Russia receives individual groups of foreign tourists from the Middle East and Europe. Inbound tourism to the Russian Federation in 2020 fell by more than 93%. From January to September, foreigners made 326.8 thousand trips across Russia against 5.1 million in 2019.
