It opened in the village of Tazovsky in the permafrost, which for many years was used to store products.

According to the government of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, information stands and more than 30 ice sculptures have been installed in the museum. Among them there is a reindeer team, sleds, tourist brands of the Tazovsky district - a girl sihirtya and a shaman Tadebya, a fisherman with a catch of fish. The permafrost is located on the territory of a fishing enterprise.

“We carried out restoration here and now there is a real museum underground. Everyone can visit it and get acquainted with the history of the development and formation of the Tazovsky fish factory,” the press service of the YNAO government says on its website.

The object was transferred to the jurisdiction of the regional museum of local lore, its visit is possible by appointment.

“In the future, it is planned to equip areas for photo shoots of the newlyweds in the permafrost. The possibility of holding Nenets national weddings is not ruled out,” the regional government noted.

You can go down into the permafrost built in the hill by a wooden staircase to a depth of about four meters. Its area is 1500 square meters, in winter the temperature here drops to -18 degrees, in summer it rises to -8.

This natural refrigerator was built in the 1950s, in the 70s it was no longer used for its intended purpose, because freezers appeared. At the same time, the permafrost was maintained in a standard state and used in emergency cases so as not to stop the work of the enterprise.

“There are other permafrost areas on Yamal. The largest in the world, Novoportovsky, is still used for its intended purpose. It is an object of cultural heritage," the report says.
