The first folklore music festival “Open Air Folk Camp” will be held on July 22 and 23 in the village of Navolok, Onega District, the Tourist Portal of the Arkhangelsk Region reported.

“The two days of the festival are filled with music, lectures and master classes about real Russian traditions and their interpretation in our modern life. The goal of the project is to make a city dweller fall in love with authentic folklore, to show the Russian North,” as per the message.

As the portal notes, since 2019, the creative association of performers of the old song “Under the Clouds” has been organizing a folk camp in the Russian North. This is a camp for urban youth in the Arkhangelsk region, where you can immerse yourself in Russian folklore and village life. The life of 30 guests during the days of the folk camp is spent in Pomeranian huts. They take part in lectures, master classes in playing instruments, singing and dancing, and watch ethnographic films in the hayloft.

“On July 22 and 23, the folk camp will end for the first time with an open festival for everyone. The program includes master classes in folk singing and choreography, lectures, games, a cinema, an artisans' fair and tea gatherings by the fire. Everything will take place on a wide clearing in a tent camp near the Onega River, ” the portal reported.

Speakers, artists and musicians from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Cherepovets, Chelyabinsk, Yaroslavl region and other Russian cities will take part in the event.
