The construction of the first glamping sites in the Pechenga District of the Murmansk Region will begin this year within the framework of the Port of Liinakhamari project. This was reported by the TASS agency with reference to the statement of the head of the region, Andrey Chibis, who spoke at a press conference on Thursday.
The project to create a tourist cluster "Port of Liinahamari" involves the development of natural, ecological tourism. The necessary world-class infrastructure will be created on the territory of the TC for cruise ships, yachts, development of diving, and sea fishing.
The project, supported by Governor Andrey Chibis, has the status of a resident of the Arctic zone.
“We… have already found points and territories where the creation of the first glamping sites should begin in 2021 in order to receive tourists at a very high-quality level,” Andrey Chibis was quoted as saying.
The construction of glampings will start in the region of the Rybachiy and Sredny peninsulas. At the same time, the responsibility for preserving the environment in unique territories will be assigned to the tour operators.
According to the head of the region, TC has a strategically advantageous position due to its location next to Norway.
In addition, the construction of glamping sites will have a positive impact on the development of tourism in the Pechenga region, where the smelting shop of the Kola MMC, located in the village of Nikel, was closed last year.
Thus, the development of tourism in the region will provide new jobs for local residents.
Earlier it was reported that until 2020 in the village of Nikel, where the smelting shop of Kola MMC (Kola MMC, a subsidiary of MMC Norilsk Nickel) was located, ceased operations after 74 years of work. The enterprise was a source of environmental pollution in the Murmansk region. The closure of the smelter will benefit the ecology, the environment and the health of local residents.
