The event is timed to coincide with the bicentennial of the death of Napoleon Bonaparte, celebrated in 2021. The Emperor of the French, a commander and statesman who laid the foundations of the modern French state, was born in Ajaccio on August 15, 1769 in a house located a few hundred meters from the fortress.
