The Association of Reserves and National Parks of the Altai-Sayan Ecoregion invites everyone to join the annual international environmental action "Clean Mountains - 2023". It will run until November 15th.

As noted in the message on the association's website, the event is aimed at drawing public attention to the problem of littering mountain areas, promoting an eco-friendly lifestyle and fostering respect for nature.

The organizers of the action are the Katun Biosphere Reserve, the Altai-Sayan Mountain Partnership (Russia), the Katon-Karagai National Park (Kazakhstan) and the Karatal-Zhapyryk Reserve (Kyrgyzstan). This year, Belukha Natural Park joined them.

“Ecological action can be organized by anyone, regardless of citizenship, age and place of residence. Participants are invited to organize and conduct an action to clean up mountainous territories or adjacent areas from garbage. After publishing a photo report on social networks (VKontakte, classmates) with the obligatory indication of the hashtag #CleanMountains2023.

The campaign, which started in 2020, annually brings together hundreds of caring citizens. Over 1600 people took part last year. In total, activists organized 59 eco-subbotniks, collected and removed about 16 tons of garbage to landfills. Employees of specially protected natural areas, members of children's and youth eco-clubs, schoolchildren, students and volunteers took the most active part, the association said.
