A new project of the Altai Regional Branch of the Russian Geographical Society has been launched, aimed at monitoring the existing network of educational routes and developing new trails in the region.
"The expert group of the project, consisting of specialists from the Altai Regional Branch of the Russian Geographical Society and partner organizations (Institute of Water and Environmental Problems of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Altai State University), will conduct studies of the soil and vegetation cover of routes, dendrochronological studies of forest cover, assessment of the physical characteristics of the state of the surface of the trails," the Administration of the Altai Territory reported on its website for the development of tourism and resort activities.
It is also planned to develop and inform new pedestrian educational routes.
As noted in the message, the Altai regional branch of the Russian Geographical Society is actively engaged in the development of pedestrian educational tourism.
So, over the past three years, more than 50 expeditions and field trips to various regions of the region have been conducted, which made it possible to organize new routes and inventory existing ones.
"In 2021, the educational ecological trail "Maham" leading to the ancient grotto was designed and equipped with the funds of a grant from the Federal Tourism Agency. This trail became the basis for the basic system of environmental monitoring and research. Already in 2023, the first results were obtained on the seasonal dynamics of the existing recreational zone," the regional administration said.
