Udmurtia, the birthplace of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, has prepared a rich program for 2025 to mark the 185th anniversary of the great Russian composer.

From January 5th to 7th, Votkinsk will host the festival "Symphony of Christmas at the Birthplace of P.I. Tchaikovsky."

"Votkinsk is the city where the great Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky was born and baptized. He was baptized in the Blagoveshchensky Cathedral, whose domes are clearly visible from the estate where the future musical genius was born. One of the pinnacles of Tchaikovsky's work was the main "Christmas" ballet "The Nutcracker" based on the tale by Hoffmann. And we invite residents and guests of Udmurtia to celebrate Christmas in the city of Tchaikovsky's childhood," reports the tourist portal VisitUdmurtia.

The composer's house-museum will host themed Christmas tours. A solemn service will be held in the Blagoveshchensky Cathedral. A choir will also perform with a program of sacred music.

On January 7th, residents and guests of the city will be able to visit the Christmas Fair and watch a concert on Votkinsk Square.

In addition, as the Ministry of Economic Development reported in its Telegram channel, at the beginning of the year, with the support of the national project, a retro train "Tchaikovsky Express" will be launched.

It runs along a new tourist route in Udmurtia, which allows you to travel from the 21st century to the middle of the 19th century for a whole day, when the Tchaikovsky family lived in Votkinsk.

"The journey begins at the Izhevsk railway station. In carriages decorated in the style of pre-revolutionary trains, guests are greeted with an interactive theatrical program and the music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky," Visitudmurtia provides details.

Items for decorating the carriages - vintage dolls, leather suitcases, antique photo frames - were obtained from collectors and antique shops. The train conductors wear uniforms from the late 19th century, and in each carriage, the leisure of travelers is enlivened by companion girls who play forfeits, lotto, and bilboquet, popular in Tchaikovsky's era.

Upon arrival in Votkinsk, guests of the composer's house-museum will be delighted by a theatrical tour - a meeting with the Tchaikovsky "family" and "household members." After that, the excursionists will get to a real noble ball and learn to dance the waltz, polonaise, and other ballroom dances (in the DK "Yubileiny"). In the Museum of History and Culture of Votkinsk, tourists will learn about the everyday life of a factory settlement in the 19th century.

The calendar of anniversary events in the cities of Udmurtia includes a large number of events, among them - the "Seasons" Figure Skating Lovers' Cup (April), Tchaikovsky Day (May 7), the "Musical Expedition" festival (June), the glassblower festival (August), 19th-century-style dinners, and much more.
