Tangerine season starts in Sochi

To date, more than 1.5 thousand tons of citrus fruits have been imported through the customs post in Adler. Deliveries of tangerines from Abkhazia this year began in October.

- 130 tons of citrus fruits were processed per day. In addition to tangerines, entrepreneurs also import feijoa - 530 tons, persimmons - 51 tons and lemons - 88 tons. In total, about 2.2 thousand tons of agricultural products were imported, the press service of the Krasnodar customs reported.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture of Abkhazia, this season it is planned to import more than 50 thousand tons of tangerines. Last year, from October to February, approximately 22,000 tons of tangerines were processed. For personal use, it is allowed to carry no more than 31 kilograms of tangerines across the border. Citrus fruits, like other fresh or dried fruits, are included in the list of regulated products subject to phytosanitary control. Since the beginning of the import of citrus fruits, customs officers at the Adler border crossing point have initiated 31 administrative cases under article 16.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation "Non-compliance with prohibitions and restrictions."
