In the near future, tourist clusters will be created in Taimyr and in the Murmansk region. This intention of Norilsk Nickel was announced by its Vice President for Federal and Regional Programs Andrey Grachev as part of the presentation of the company's report on the main results of work in the field of sustainable development for 2020.
According to him, the company intends to work towards the development of tourism in the zones of presence, since the assets of Norilsk Nickel are located in places that are attractive for tourists.
He added that the Zatundra cluster in Taimyr will be able to accommodate up to 50 thousand tourists a year. The investments in the project will amount to about 20 billion rubles, Grachev said.
He also noted that the Valla Tunturi cluster will be built on the Kola Peninsula. The project will unite various attractions of the Pechenga Municipal District and will allow the development of different types of tourism.
The tourist cluster will include: 2 tourist villages, a hotel complex in the village of St. Titovka for 120 3-star rooms, 8 glampings, a network of tourist routes, landscaped paths to waterfalls, 2 runways for small aircraft, highways, networks engineering infrastructure.
In addition, the company provides for renovation and complete restructuring of Norilsk. A quadripartite agreement has already been signed on the social and economic development of this city. Together with the Federal Center and the Krasnoyarsk Territory, about 120 billion rubles will be allocated in the project until 2024 and with a prospect for 2035. Of these, 81.3 billion are investments by Norilsk Nickel.
UN Goodwill Ambassador Vyacheslav Fetisov also expressed the opinion that with the support of Norilsk Nickel, the Arctic could become a new hub for ecological tourism, which has long been a place of attraction for fans of extreme recreation and adventure. Fetisov is sure that «over time, the Arctic will be a place of pilgrimage for tourism».
