Patrick Viceriat, expert of tourism, said in an interview with the French channel Europe 1 that strikes against pension reform, which have already lasted 23 days in the country, block tourism in the country.
According to him, the social movement directly affects tourism, in particular because of problems with transport: non-striking city residents and tourists face difficulties - service workers cannot get to their jobs, and tourists - to hotels.
Patrick Viceriat cites the example of the Paris Honotel hotel group, which would have lost almost 20% of its turnover in December due to strikes.
The expert also noted that due to public unrest, many tourist places, such as museums and concert halls, are being closed, which leads to discontent among tourists.
However, according to official figures, the capital of France, Paris, is still one of the most visited cities in Europe.
The tourism sector contributed 77.7 billion euros to the GDP of the French Republic, with 30% from international tourists.
